3DV systems : ZCam - depth camera

ZCam is the RGB and depth cameras for gesture application. 3DV systems joined Microsoft Natal project for gaming technology development, and later they were acquired by Microsoft in 2009.

Toshiba 3CCD

Toshiba's IK-HD1 is a very small 3CCD camera, which dimension size is 32.6x38.6x41mm and 65g in weight. 3CCD uses three CCD image sensor chips to record R,G,B separately, unlike common demosaic type camera that each pixel contains three color filters.

MIT: non-contact heart rate measurement

Ming-Zher Poh, Phd candidate of MIT Media Lab, develops a non-invasive technique  to measure the heart rate by using camera, accurate to within 3 beats/minute.

In this paper, a leading edge N65 0.9um pixel BSI technology using 300mm bulk silicon wafer is reported with process breakthroughs. Challenges to go beyond <0.9um pixel size are discussed.

Aptina: DR-Pix

Aptina DR-Pix: 2 mode in pixel
Low conversion gain(LCG): in bright light
High conversion gain(HCG): in low light
Aptina releases this high dynamic range technique for camera application.
Original inter-scene DR is limited to 69dB, but can be equal to 82.9dB at HCG mode.
