It is that accelerometer senses the gravity to tell processor what mode user operate.
Obviously, Incredible S does not have mechanical buttons and use capacitive touch panel to sense the finger as button function. But in the non display area (black peripheral of the TFT LCD display), how these button display their indication?
This can be done by transparent EL film or OLE film such self-emitting layers. Each different indication like horizontal and vertical arrow has its layer, and is stacked with each other under the capacitive touch film. Controller will active transparent self-emitting layer depending on gravity as user operates.
It is not hard but really smart idea........really innovative.
Many companies focus on I/O devices to support friendly user interface with hardware. Razer demo its portable gaming device with display button. Recently Microsoft newest patten also has similar idea.
